Abstract

Background. In this era of extraordinary change and globalization, many recognize that the creative industries are driving the new economy. Industries of the creative sector of the economy are increasingly recognized as significant for both social and economic development and are attracting a growing interest of the world community. The understanding and study of the economic value of creative industries has expanded. The experience of developed countries shows significant growth in GDP and employment in the creative sectors of the economy, which also contributes to the revitalization and advancement of cities, the growth of urbanization and attraction of investment. Many experts argue that creative industries have a significant impact on economic development through the implementation of a new concept of economic growth. In addition, the creative industries are one of the few economic sectors that are expected to develop dynamically in the future. Materials and methods. This article provides a theoretical analysis of the terminology of the creative economy, the conceptual apparatus of creative industries and their classifications. Results. A review of the literature on the nature and characteristics of creative industries revealed their common characteristics, which are divided into two main categories. Conclusions. The creative industries are emerging industries that combine advanced technological products and creativity in the cultural arts, and include thirteen industries such as arts, film, advertising, agriculture and design, and more.
